The summer is drawing to a close with this weekend moving back onto campus and next Tuesday the beginning of classes.

This past weekend was really great. The picnic on Saturday led to time playing volleyball and paddling on a canoe. It was kind of foolish to have bring my digital camera along for the canoe ride, but it made for use of some great pics of the water splashing wars.

On Sunday, I went with a group of friends to visit another friend in New York. Time Square and Long Island were really interesting. I didn’t get to see all of the sights possible, but more the reason to come back sometime later on. I had fun. Although the bus ride back to Boston made me realize that there’s still much to this city that I haven’t seen yet either.

I guess the most memorable aspects of my summer took place within 3 days towards the end. I can’t yet to determine if this was really meant to be the end of my summer or merely an introduction on the things yet to come about for senior year.

On a side note, CNN has an interesting article on the current college majors that pay the most. Although I didn’t get into the major for the salary, kind of cool to know that hard work will pay off. Now actually finding an engineering job after graduation is another story.

For tech related stuff: I’ve been reading on people’s exploits to get Mac OSX to work on their x86 machines. After working on so many Apple machines during the course of the summer, I can say that there are several things I like/dislike about OSX. On the otherhand, I’ve been trying to get back into using Linux.

In the meantime I’ve been trying to get the BUVSA up and running.

I had this domain registered for about 2 years now, but never really made full use of it except for using the space for small web development projects. The story behind 2 High Tech was that it was developed along with 2 friends from high school for a web contest. At the time since we were reaching the year 2000, we thought it would be cool to create a site that would inform people about upcoming technologies that may affect our lives. I still think the idea is great, even though we didn’t win. You can visit the old site at Glimpse of the Future

For now 2HT just has this cool image that I sort of created in photoshop. I had always wanted to revive the idea, but lacked the help and informational sources that would bring the site alive.

Just in case anyone was curious.

Apparently my old host decided to cancel my hosting account without mentioning it to me a few weeks ago. So I lost everything, not being able to get onto the web server to backup anything. I guess it’s a good thing that I was relatively lazy on my web development projects, so I didn’t lose much except for my few lines of words that I post every now and then.

Good news is that I decided to just to subscribe to a host that would offer quality service. I signed up with A Small Orange . Other than some DNS issues around the Boston area, everything was good to go within a couple of hours. I got a decent amount of space to put to full use, so I’ll try to see what I can come up with.

Now I’m back to scratching my head on what to post.
